The Divine Abstract

ROWIAL This is perplexing me to ... peace*. What? An 18piece ensemble - using e.g. sitar, dulcitone, bassoon, kendang, erhu besides "normal" winds, strings, keys & percs - plays something between ±modern but un-bulky melodic chamber and multi-ethno-/world-music. First, compositions seem very easy to "digest". Then, I (you?) get perplexed by their shrewdly balanced complexities, bringing me (you?) balmy & *peaceful exitement; reliably every time I (you?) listen. Thank you, Charlie Cawood!

Phi Yaan-Zek I've been bumping into Charlie at various gigs over the years, and talking to him have always remarked what a creative and dedicated musician he is. Well this debut shows that and more. What a stunning, and simply beautiful soundscape of delightful compositions and acoustic instrumental textures! All superbly arranged and performed, with a progressive ear for enticing melodies, and unusual instrumentation. Very inspiring and most recommended! Favorite track: The 32nd Path.
